In Glendale, on top of a hill with private views, a unique 1920’s vintage Bungalow awaits you. Stonework all around with a rustic feel, this is a house surrounded by nature. This is the house that everyone drives by, points, and says, “Ooooooo look how cute”! I can’t believe this Los Angeles home is under a million.
Let’s start out with a DOUBLE red door. Yup, I said it. A red garage door and a red gate stand out to me right away. If you have read my past blog posts, you know how I luv a pop of color!
The exposed beams and brick wall give such a warm feeling to the living room. Plus the working fireplace is such a bonus to this inviting space.
You guys… I mean, where do I start with this fun kitchen?!
The colorful floor is my favorite. The sage green paint on the cabinets pulls from the tile and really ties it all together. Transom windows that open toward you is a throwback to yester-year while they did some modern updates and gave us marble countertops.
There is a bonus sitting room on the ground floor with light blue painted brick, again with the exposed beams and a cement floor. This is where I would do my crafts while blasting some classic rock. The acoustics must be incredible.
Um… are these real chunks of wood that make up this staircase? Is this house for real?! I can hear them creak a little as I take my first steps.
Two bedrooms on the second floor are both different yet charming.
Keep the bathroom as is or I’d give it a bit of updating like they did the kitchen. But the feel is there. The vibe is keeping with the rest of this home. Don’t touch the arch in the doorway and checkered floor- that’s a no brainer.
A COTTAGE FOR THE NATURE LOVER
The lush grounds of this Los Angeles home under a million is almost hard to describe in words. There are literally rock formations surrounding us as we walk through the grounds. Take off your heels and put on your checkered vans– this terrain is for the nature lover.
Large trees sprout up and cover you along the pebbled path that leads you to some alfresco dining.
The vine-covered pergola is where I’ll be if you need me. The twinkle lights are a given with most houses I’m drawn to and this wonderful bungalow doesn’t disappoint. I can hear the wind chime and the birds chirping in their nest nearby already.
Barefoot with paint on my pants and a book in my hand- that’s the vision I have for myself as I immerse in this 1927 cottage on the Glendale hillside. Please join me for my homemade plum jam on toast and some sun tea as we discuss poetry and how we miss classic films shown in
35 mm at The New Beverly. Is COVID over yet…
